Welcome to the Demo Page for the Winning at the Track (WATT) stand-alone programs and the interactive service.

Stand-alone Demo Programs:

o    The Tutorial
o    The WATTdos demo

There are three steps involved:

1.  Open and print this help file ...  Install (Installing all WATT stand-alone programs)

2.  Following the Install instructions, create a new C:\ TRACK> folder.

3.  Install FreeWATT.zip (includes the WATTdos demo and the Tutorial) into the new TRACK folder.

If the FreeWATT.zip program is installed, there is no need to download the TUTOR.zip file since the tutorial is also included in the FreeWATT file.  The Tutorial runs when the word TUTOR is typed at the C:\TRACK> prompt.  The WATTdos demo runs by typing the word WATT at the prompt. But, first, create the required TRACK folder.

To download these compressed files, right click each file and go to "Save Target as..."  You should also download pkunzip.exe from this page if you need this shareware program to open any .zip file (also see instructions).  Want personal help or have a question?  Call our offices for immediate help! There is no obligation whatsoever.

  TUTOR.zip (about 20k)

FreeWATT.zip (about 139k)

To open files:  pkunzip.exe

Download and open the files in the new TRACK folder ( C:\TRACK> ).   You can use WinZip or the PKUNZIP.EXE program above to open each file.  PKUNZIP is fast and easy.

Want to see additional free sample race files that can be run in the demo?  Contact the Publisher.

The Tutorial:

We recommend that you download FreeWATT and review the included Tutorial before using the demo.  Follow the easy step-by-step instructions (above).  Once the file is opened in your new TRACK folder, you can run the tutorial by typing TUTOR at the C:\TRACK> prompt, or by doing this ...

In the lower left corner, click START, click RUN, then type:  C:\track\tutor.bat

Winning at the Track speed/pace handicapping software

If the entire WATT package is purchased later, the primary installation steps will have already been completed with the installation of the demo.   Both the WATTwin program and the WATTdos programs are installed into a single folder called TRACK, and each WATT version will operate by using its own icon.  The DATABASE will also be installed in the TRACK folder.  A WATT Race File can only be created either by typing data manually from The Daily Racing Form or, as most do, by downloading a DRF file ($1.00) from Bloodstock (i.e., the BRIS Single File format) and then entering it into the DATABASE.  Regardless, all stand-alone program activity occurs in the TRACK folder.

The DATABASE is not a data-entry program.  Instead, it transfers the necessary BRIS data into a new WATT Race File.  These are sophisticated programs, but they are highly reliable and easy to use. Creating each race file takes only 5 minutes without any typing (two days before). The interactive handicapping site is, of course, much easier.

New users are also encouraged to visit our home page at HorseRacingUSA.com where additional help can be found in the lower left corner.  Moreover, extensive help can be found within each program whenever questions arise about its operation.

Online Handicapping Service:

Finally, serious handicappers should consider the new WATT interactive program. There are major advantages to the service. For a trial run, without any obligation, click the registration link below, complete the form, and then call the publisher for a sample file demonstration. Stand-alone Instructions

If you are not a computer expert and would like to have some help with the stand-alone installations, you can open and print the small Install file located above and the HowTo PDF file located in the lower left corner of the website's Home page. Note, you can also call the Publisher for immediate help.

Important: If the stand-alone demo works on your computer, every WATT program will also work.

Icon Shortcut used to run the Stand-alone Demo

Once a file is copied into the new TRACK folder and opened, the program is installed and ready to use.  We also recommend that a WATTdos icon be created on your Windows desktop to run the demo (see the HowTo file).

If you purchase the entire program later, the installation process has essentially been completed beforehand.

Opening Files

Do you need the "PKUNZIP" shareware program to open files?   If so, do this ...

Download:  pkunzip.exe (right click and "Save Target As..." into your TRACK folder)

To open any .zip file, at the DOS prompt type the word PKUNZIP and a space before the file name (hit Enter).

Sample Race Files

Several real-life sample WATT race files can be seen with the demo to help new users become familiar with the program. Also, the Publisher will be happy to send other sample files.

Contact the publisher if you would like to receive additional Winning at the Track files.

Ordering the WATT package

The WATT package can be ordered by phone and the program can be installed within minutes after the order is processed.   All major credit cards are accepted.  Just call our offices at (954) 573-7236.   We recommend that program updates ($55) be ordered every 12-18 months.  The Updates overcome the problem of periodic surface changes, new race tracks, etc. The updates are free for interactive site members who already own the software.

To Order the Interactive Service

Simply fill out the registration form on the site and then call the Publisher to complete the order.

All Stand-alone programs work with Win95, Win98, 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7
Note: Winning at the Track favors machines with 32-bit processors.
If you buy a new computer with a 64-bit processor, first install the free program, DOSbox.

The WATT Interactive Website Service works with all Desktops, Laptops, Tablets, and SmartPhones.
